I'm working with PSP9, so my comments always correspond to PSP9.
But they shouldn't be sooo different from PSP8.
How do I apply the mask on two sides of my image?
Since I received this question a couple times, I made a little easy to follow tutorial for it.
Remeber: I do not include my masks in the masks-folder, what comes with PSP. I store them on a different place outside of PSP on my harddrive.
Let's take any mask with a border just on one side, like this:

Open both - the mask and your image - in PSP. Make your image active. Go to "Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image", look for your mask and apply.

Now you have something like this:

In your layers palette you have a group-arrangement. Make the top layer "Group - Raster xyz" active.
Now comes the trick! Go to "Image - Mirror" and apply the mask again, like we did before. Now your image looks like this and you have 2 group-arrangements in your layers palette.
Right-click on the top layer and go "Merge Group". Apply "Image - Mirror" again if necessary.
That's it! Was easy, ha?
Psst! Sometimes it looks good, when you apply the mask on all four sides! But only sometimes, depends on the mask.

more to come!
